1. Nature of the Platform

Aerodrop Technologies Limited operates a technology-enabled parcel custody and logistics dispatch network in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Aerodrop provides a digital marketplace connecting parcel senders ("Senders"), verified independent courier agents ("Field Agents"), local transit hubs ("Hub Partners"), and recipient individuals ("Recipients"). Aerodrop acts solely as a technology facilitator and marketplace operator, coordinating custody tracking and payment escrow. Independent Field Agents and Hub Partners are independent service contractors, not employees or direct agents of Aerodrop.

2. Eligibility and Account Registration

  • Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years of age (or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction) to register an account or initiate a parcel drop request.
  • Account Accuracy: You agree to provide true, current, and accurate personal information during registration, including your full legal name, active telephone number, email address, and physical locations.
  • Identity Verification (KYC): Users, Field Agents, and Hub Partners must undergo Know-Your-Customer (KYC) identity verification checks—including government-issued ID verification, photo verification, and address validation—before transacting on the platform.
  • Credential Protection: You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, security PINs, and authentication codes.

3. Drop Requests, Dynamic Pricing, and Fares

Senders submit parcel dispatch requests ("Drop Requests") specifying pickup and drop-off coordinates, parcel dimensions, weight, and content descriptions. Fares are calculated dynamically based on distance, route demand, parcel classification, and transit speeds. Senders agree to pay the total quoted fare prior to agent dispatch.

4. Payment, Escrow Mechanism, and Delivery Release

  • Escrow Protection: Fares processed via our payment gateway (Paystack) are deposited into a secure escrow account upon booking confirmation. Funds are held in escrow and are not released to the Field Agent or logistics operators until final delivery confirmation.
  • 4-Digit PIN Verification: Every physical custody handover—from Sender to Agent, Agent to Hub, Hub to Destination Agent, and Destination Agent to Recipient—requires cryptographic 4-digit PIN verification.
  • Automatic Release: Inputting and verifying the correct 4-digit PIN by the Recipient upon final physical delivery automatically triggers the release of escrow funds to the Field Agent and transit operators.
  • PIN Confidentiality: Senders and Recipients must safeguard the delivery PIN. Sharing the delivery PIN with a Field Agent before physical receipt of the parcel invalidates escrow protection and releases liability for Aerodrop.

5. Prohibited Items and Contraband Policy

Senders are strictly forbidden from submitting, offering, or attempting to transport any of the following prohibited items via the Aerodrop network:

  • Illegal narcotics, controlled substances, unprescribed pharmaceuticals, or synthetic drugs under Nigerian law (NDLEA regulations).
  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, weapons, military gear, or hazardous materials (flammables, toxic chemicals, radioactive substances).
  • Stolen property, counterfeit goods, illegal currency, bearer bonds, bullion, precious metals, or negotiable financial instruments.
  • Live animals, insects, human remains, or biological waste.
  • Perishable food items that are unsealed, leaking, or require active refrigeration during intercity transit.

Aerodrop, Field Agents, and Hub Partners reserve the absolute right to inspect outer packaging, request parcel contents verification, and immediately report contraband to law enforcement authorities (e.g., NDLEA, Nigeria Police Force).

6. Sender Responsibilities and Packaging

Senders must ensure parcels are securely wrapped, sealed, and packed to withstand normal intercity transit conditions. Aerodrop is not liable for internal breakage or damage caused by improper or fragile packaging provided by the Sender.

7. Delivery Agent and Hub Partner Obligations

Field Agents and Hub Partners operate as independent business entities. Agents undertake to inspect parcel exterior condition upon pickup, log timestamped geolocation coordinates at every handover stage, exercise reasonable care during transit, comply with all Nigerian road safety laws, and maintain active vehicle insurance.

8. Cancellations, Failed Handovers, and Refunds

  • Sender Cancellation Before Pickup: Senders may cancel a Drop Request free of charge prior to a Field Agent accepting and arriving at the pickup location. If cancelled after agent dispatch, a pickup attempt fee may be deducted from the escrow refund.
  • Recipient Unreachability: If a Recipient is unreachable after reasonable attempts by the Field Agent (minimum 15-minute wait time at the destination coordinate), the parcel will be consigned to the nearest secure transit hub. The Sender will be responsible for return-to-sender or re-delivery fees.
  • Escrow Refunds: In the event of confirmed parcel loss or unresolvable failure attributable to the transit network prior to PIN verification, escrowed fares will be refunded to the Sender's original payment method within 3–5 business days.

9. Loss, Damage Claims, and Limitation of Liability

  • Claims Window: Any claim for parcel damage, partial loss, or transit delay must be submitted in writing via the app or info@aerodrop.app within forty-eight (48) hours of the expected delivery time.
  • Verified Custody Audit: Because every handover is logged with timestamped geofencing and PIN authentication, claims will be cross-referenced against the digital custody audit trail to determine liability.
  • Maximum Liability Cap: To the maximum extent permitted under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018 and Nigerian law, Aerodrop's cumulative liability for any single parcel drop request shall not exceed the lesser of: (i) the declared monetary value of the parcel at booking, or (ii) ₦50,000 (Fifty Thousand Nigerian Naira), unless additional declared-value transit insurance was purchased during booking.

10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the breach thereof shall first be submitted to good-faith mediation. If unresolved within thirty (30) days, the dispute shall be settled by binding arbitration in Lagos State, Nigeria, in accordance with the Arbitration and Mediation Act, 2023.
